Cruising Healthy Cruise Port Rankings for GI Illness

Disease Strategies developed the Cruising Healthy Cruise Port Rankings for GI Illness under the direction of Frank McAllan, MPH. Disease Strategies is an independent company, not affiliated with the CDC Vessel Sanitation Program, and the CDC neither approves nor sets the criteria for the Cruising Healthy Cruise Port Rankings. However, all gastrointestinal illness data and ship information is provided by the VSP to Disease Strategies on a periodic basis.

Cruise Data Excluded from these Studies

  • Voyage that terminate (disembark) in non-U.S. ports
  • Same day voyages (those without an overnight stay).
  • Voyages lasting more than 21 days if the CDC does not report them in their database.
